Arctic Skills Taster Course (Age 24+)
Last three places available on BSES Expedition’s two-week Arctic Skills course. If you are 24 or older, and are looking to develop your winter mountaineering skills but do not have time to take part in a lengthy expedition, then this course is for you!
Two week Arctic Skills taster course in Svalbard, 78 degrees North. Learn winter mountaineering skills from pulk handling to polar bear defence, avalanche safety to crevasse rescue, rope systems to crampon ice-climbing techniques. Attempt a multi-day ski traverse of the ice cap and glacial plateau and ascents of high peaks by way of rock and snow ridges. Explore expedition communication systems and wilderness navigation, together with expedition risk management and leadership skills.
